Clare's Dogs in Training
RUGER
OWINTO An American Pistol Ruger 9 Mil, BN, RE, FDC, SWN, SCE, SEA, CGCA, TKI
Ruger is a son of Chanel. He started his show career in the conformation ring and took Reserve Winners Dog, Best Puppy and a Group 3 at 9 months old. He will go back out into the conformation ring in another year, but for now he is doing extremely well in AKC Scent work. He has taken 2 first place in Novice Container and a first and second in Novice Interior. He finished his Novice Container Title on December 1, 2019 with a second place out of a very large class.
He is also training in Obedience and we are having a blast. He loves to work and is such a clown. He has already started to figure out when we are going to train and loves to get to new places.
Here he is sniffing out the scent birch I hid in the planter in a floral arrangement tube. His ribbons are proudly displayed from his AKC Scent Work Trial for Novice Interior and Novice Container. I look forward to 2021 and getting back out there to compete. Many of the shows were cancelled in 2020, hoping things will open up soon!
Northeastern Maryland Kennel Club AKC Scent Trial at Grace Classical Academy in Bel Air, MD where Ruger earned his first AKC Scent Advanced Container leg, Novice Exterior title, and Novice Buried leg.
CAMI
OWINTO Coco Chanel Camellia, CD, BN, RE, SCN, CGCA, TKA, RATS,
Cami is Chanel's daughter. She earned her AKC Canine Good Citizen and Canine Good Citizen Advanced titles and her Novice, Intermediate and Excellent Trick Titles at 8 months old. She is currently training in AKC Obedience and will continue her obedience career as soon as the country opens up and the shows get back on track. She has been a fun dog to train, not always easy but she keeps me laughing. She's a firecracker!
We went to a Barn Hunt Workshop in August 2019 and completed the rat find, through the straw bales was a tunnel and we had to climb on the straw bales and completed it in 52 seconds. We had a blast and it was very interesting to watch all the dogs and learn the difference between their indications of whether there was a rat in the tube or not.
She has earned her Barn Hunt Instinct, Novice Title with 2 first place ribbons and a qualifying score. She earned 2 legs with a first place - High in Class and a 3rd place in Open where she had to find 2 rats. She finished her Open title in December 2019. We are having a great time learning the rules, how to read her when she finds a rat and giving her distance to hunt. We entered Senior in 2020, where she has to identify 4 rats and currently have 1 leg. Only 2 more to go and she will move on to Masters.
Branchwater Border Collies & Training Center Barn Hunt in Reisterstown, MD where Cami participated in her first Master Classes.
CHANEL
OWINTO Coco Chanel No. 3, CDX, BN, RA
Chanel is Sydney's daughter. She earned her AKC Obedience Beginner Novice, Novice and Open titles. She then went on to earn her AKC Rally Novice, Intermediate and Advanced titles. She is currently working on her AKC Obedience Utility title.
Chanel loves to chase the tennis ball and go on hikes. She cracks me up when she jumps the stream on our property and waits for me to cross the bridge to catch up.

SYDNEY
OWINTO My Little Sydney, CD, HCT-S
Sydney came to us at 4 months old. She was very easy to train and obtained titles including her AKC Companion Dog Title and a Herding Certificate Title - Sheep. We attended a Herding Clinic in Berryville, VA and then entered a trial the following day. She did extremely well and had the opportunity to herd the sheep like she clearly knew what she was doing. She was OWINTO's foundation bitch as she had numerous qualities that are ideal in the breed. Sydney was a wonderful mother and continues to be a caring grandmother. She is always watching out for her grandchildren, showing them the ropes and keeping everyone in line.
Sydney is retired now and works as a Greeter at Dover Saddlery in Sparks. She is loved and adored by all those she works with. She is said to be the hardest working employee. Stop by and say "Hello!"
Enjoying new experiences with my master, like herding sheep!
Sydney and Clare are second to the right. Holding qualifying ribbons along with the others that also qualified that day.
